BLACK LIVES MATTER

END SYSTEMIC RACISM

MEN AND WOMEN FOR OTHERS

BLACK LIVES MATTER ✺ END SYSTEMIC RACISM ✺ MEN AND WOMEN FOR OTHERS ✺

A desire for positive change.

Meet the visionaries behind CHARA's inception, envisioning a world liberated from the shackles of racism.

where we started

The Holy Cross Alumni Anti-Racism Alliance (CHARA) was formed in the wake of the George Floyd murder, when two HC ’92 classmates, Maria Amendolia and Fred Givens, reconnected to have a candid conversation about systemic racism and how they could impact positive change. They brought some friends into their important dialogue, and so began the CHARA movement in support of HC students and alumni of color.

where we are

CHARA is dedicated to fostering meaningful conversations around racial justice and improving the college experience for students of color. Our group has expanded to engage over 300 alumni (and growing), many of whom are white and understand that ending racism is the job of white people and cannot be solved by communities of color alone.
